Two dates for January

On Sunday January 8th, the Wassail will be held in the Pleasaunce for the fourth year running. There will be hot, mulled cider and children’s activities, the Greenwich Morris Men will perform for us and we will bless the Fruit Trees in both little orchards with the help of PIP. Come along about 12 noon and enjoy some singing and chatting.

Also we would like to promote another activity put on by some Friends of the Pleasaunce at Mycenae House on January 6th. Being thespians, they were a great help to Father Christmas this year when he visited the Pleasaunce and we would like to show some support for a rendition of their 12th Night.

Perhaps we could have a screening in the Park in warmer weather.

    Dear Sue,

Wassail sounds great. Can I check what you have arranged for the actual blessing of the trees? Last year it was led by Rich Sylvester and Jacqueline Durban (Gemini Honeybee). As you know, Rich is away and Jackie has, I believe, moved to Folkestone. So the Pip! folk are not really in a position to do that. I plan to come and would happily say something about the trees (and perhaps summon up some volunteers to help with mulching – which we are planning to do soon). But I’d be hard pushed to lead the wassail.

Do you have someone else with the experience (and style!) to lead the blessing?

    Best wishes,

    Nigel
